These are the situations we see regularly
None of these happen when you have someone who does this regularly handling it for you.
- Thinking an NIE means you're a resident — it doesn't, and the two get confused constantly.
- Booking an appointment weeks out, only to find the office fully booked when the date arrives.
- Stating the wrong reason for the application ("residency" instead of "property purchase," for example) and getting rejected on a technicality.
- Not knowing a power of attorney lets someone else apply and collect it for you, so a trip to Spain isn't needed at all.
- Finding out you need an NIE in the middle of a property purchase or an inheritance, when there's suddenly no time to spare.
